Abstract :
In this paper, triangle´s angle technique for reference point detection in minutiae matching is introduced. This reference point is the key component for fingerprint matching as it solves the rotation, translation and scaling problems. It works by choosing each minutia as reference minutiae; identify two neighbor minutia for template fingerprint and three neighbor minutiae for input fingerprint using Euclidean distance. All the minutiae combinations to form triangles are stored in database for both input fingerprint and template fingerprint. Then angles of input fingerprint´s triangles are compared with the angle of targeted template fingerprint´s triangle. Triangle from input fingerprint which is out of tolerance angle will be disqualified for further matching process. This can reduce the processing time to search reference point while simultaneously increase the accuracy.
