  • Abstract
In this study, four scenes of Landsat ETM+ images covering Nanjing area were selected to analyze the spatial of Urban Heat Island(UHI) in different seasons. The Land Surface Temperatures(LST) were retrieved from the calibrated images. The results showed that there were large LST variation in different seasons, LST varied from 8°C to 45°C.The UHI in Nanjing displayed remarkable seasonal pattern, with maximum UHI intensity in summer and minimum in both spring and autumn seasons. However, the UHI intensity was negative in winter, which was commonly referred to the Urban Cool Island(UCI).Moreover, the UHI intensity was similar in both spring and autumn, they showed a contiguous and scattered spatial pattern, whereas it was flake in summer.
