Abstract :
We present several designs for surface-plasmon confined electrically pumped nanoscale semiconductor lasers. We show that low-loss laser nanocavities with subwavelength cavity sizes in all three dimensions are feasible in which threshold gain requirements are easily met with standard semiconductor gain materials.
