Abstract
A description of a new master´s level graduate course in process modeling, monitoring, and preventive maintenance using multivariate statistical analysis tools is presented, along with six case studies done by the students in last year´s course. Students are strongly recommended to have had a prior course in applied linear algebra with emphasis in singular value and eigen decomposition content. Computer simulation projects were required throughout the course, culminating in one class project which involves establishing an online monitoring capability to detect process anomalies, the presence of perturbations and process drift. The course ends in an oral presentation of the project results in class
