Abstract :
Polymer based organic solar cell offers a relatively inexpensive option for the future solar cell technology, provided its efficiency increases beyond the current limit of 4-6%. In this paper, we use the process and device models to explore the possibility of the efficiency improvement of the solar cell by ordered active layer morphology, obtained through template based fabrication technique. Our analysis shows that ordered morphology improves both photon collection as well as carrier transport and hence promises to double the cell efficiency.
