Abstract :
A method is described which can improve the direction-of-arrival estimation when the signal is nonstationary but of a known form. This is the case, e.g. in an active sonar system, when a known waveform is transmitted and the reflections are measured by an array of hydrophones. It is shown that for a class of signals, the knowledge about the signal can be used to improve the resolution in azimuth estimation
