Abstract :
The excitation control systems of large synchronous generators have a great impact on both the static stability and dynamic stability of power systems. This paper mainly focuses on the influence of elevating excitation system ceiling voltage ratio (ESCVR) towards system´s transient stability by simulation works. Examples show that increasing ESCVR of a generator would be able to improve the transient stability as well as the available transient transfer limit, especially for generators with relatively small stability margin.
