Abstract
In this contribution a multi-rate adaptive inferential control law is proposed. The algorithm is based upon the synthesis of an adaptive inferential estimation algorithm and the generalised minimum variance control algorithm. The algorithm it applied to a nonlinear simulation of a binary distillation column. It it demonstrated that the technique can provide enhanced performance when compared to alternate model based control philosophies
