Abstract
In this paper, a novel stator-doubly-fed doubly salient (SDFDS) motor for electric vehicle has been analyzed by using the finite element method, in which the interaction between the field flux and armature current as well as the magnetic saturation are taken into account. The static characteristics of SDFDS motor, including flux linkage, self-inductance, mutual inductance, EMF and torque, are deduced. A 12/8-pole SDFDS motor are built and tested. Experimental results of the prototype are given to verify the theoretical analysis.
