Abstract
With the growing demand for wireless devices, IEEE 802.11 is being more and more widely used in various fields. Several enhancements have been added to boost IEEE 802.11 MAC performance. This paper proposes a novel adaptive protocol based on Moving Average of Effective Backoff (MAEB). This protocol solves the problems in dynamic Manets. MAEB provides two mechanisms to predict the channel situation around a moving node and employs the appropriate algorithm for each situation. Simulation results have proved that MAEB outperforms other two protocols and shows a stable response to the change of network topology.
