Abstract :
A perturbation analysis of the MUSIC algorithm, accurate for small numbers of samples, is described. This is accurate to second order, whereas previous work has been accurate to only first order. The authors also describe how the perturbation analysis may be extended to the case where the background noise matrix is also estimated from noise samples. It is shown that this introduces additional terms which degrade the performance of the MUSIC method
