Abstract :
As connectivity between computer systems increase, so does the need for computer security. Intrusion detection adds another dimension to computer security. When prevention methods fail, intrusion detection systems are used to recognize attacks as they occur. The focus of this paper is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Fisher Discriminant and the Chi-square distance metric for network intrusion detection.
