Abstract :
The concept for an inertial confinement fusion (ICF) system is presented, which is driven by laser output power amplifiers designed as pulse nuclear reactor-pumped lasers. A brief review is given of the current status of research in this field at the Institute of Physics and Power Engineering, Obninsk, Russia. The development of a pulsed nuclear reactor-pumped laser system, based on all ignition reactor module in the form of a two-core fast-burst reactor and a thermal subcritical laser module employing an Ar-Xe laser active medium, is reported
