Abstract
The authors introduce a novel modified eigensystem decomposition method to decompose the covariance matrix of the array elements into the signal and noise components. The noise contribution can thus be suppressed and the signal covariance matrix reconstructed for detection. Furthermore, this algorithm can be easily extended to cope with coherent signals. It is shown that, from the enhanced covariance matrix, the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio at reception has improved significantly
