Abstract :
The paper presents a novel modulated self-adjusting power filter scheme for industrial (three-phase four-wire) nonlinear loads. These loads are fed by an electric utility feeder and comprise a composite load window representation of lighting, motorized loads, industrial processes, etc. The novel static compensator-a simple arm-tuned modulated filter-is switched using a ripple-power tracking regulator and a pulse width triggering circuit. This new modulated filter is a member of a family of smart energy misers/modulated filters (US patent pending). The static compensator/power filter scheme ensures power quality enhancement, load voltage stability, voltage flickering control as well as harmonic reduction
