Title :
Radial Index Tailoring for Reduced Intermodal Coupling in Large-Mode-Area Fiber Lasers and Amplifiers
Author_Institution :
Univ. of Rochester, Rochester
Abstract :
Low-order Gaussian index profiles result in increased modal index contrast. Intermodal coupling can be reduced by a factor of 10 to 100, with nonlinear thresholds increased by a factor of 3 to 7 due to larger effective areas.
