  • Abstract
    Oscillations in machines´ rotor angle due to power system disturbances can result in power swing phenomena in the electrical networks. South Sulawesi 150 kV system in Indonesia consists of two sub systems that are connected by long transmission line. North side sub system contains big generation plants, whereas south side sub system is the load center. This condition often causes oscillation if there are major changes in the system that will lead to power swing phenomena. In this study, the dynamic power swing is simulated by using ATP Draw - EMTP software for some cases. The result of voltage and current measurements in each terminal are used for scanning distance relay setting performance in respond with swing condition and for finding the electrical center of the network with Transview software. At the end, out-of-step relay setting recommendation is suggested in the electrical center to avoid either total blackout of the system or equipment failure.
