Abstract
The paper describes the implementation of high speed V.29 voiceband data modem functions on the Texas Instruments TMS320C25 digital signal processor. Algorithms are described for adaptive equalizer training, decision quantizing, and carrier phase jitter cancellation which result in performance improvements over standard approaches. Software program flow and processor resource utilization are presented for an actual half-duplex V.29 modem implementation. It is shown that high performance can be obtained with one TMS320C25 digital signal processor and minimum external hardware.
