Abstract :
The Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) is a cooperative effort of US and Canadian companies organized to strengthen and maintain the vitality and competitive ability of the semiconductor industry. A not-for-profit organization, the SRC plans and implements an integrated program of basic research conducted by faculty and graduate students at leading US universities. in order to better understand the flow of technology within the SRC community, the SRC conducted case studies of technology transfers that have occurred at several member companies. Cases examined included both successful and partially successful transfers. Interviews were conducted with engineers and managers responsible for acquiring the SRC technology. The results of these interviews have been analyzed and are summarized. Recommended improvements, designed to reduce transfer barriers, are derived from the analysis
