Abstract
Single trial analysis was performed to investigate the nature of the previously-reported P300 amplitude differences between normal and schizophrenic subjects. A matched filtering procedure was developed to estimate the amplitude and latency of the P300 in single trials, elicited using an auditory oddball paradigm. We found that fewer oddball stimuli produced a P300 in schizophrenia subjects than in normal subjects, and that normal subjects produced a P300 with larger amplitude. Also, the latency was larger for the schizophrenia group
