  • Abstract
In this paper, a new technique for detecting inter turn short circuit fault in large turbogenerator rotor winding is presented. Based on single-end fault information, this new technique applies wavelet analysis method to inspect abruptly changed signals. The transient current traveling wave that generated in the rotor winding inter turn short circuit contains ample fault information, and its basic characteristic is current "abruptly changed". According to the "abruptly changed", there are modulus maxima after wavelet transform, and we can detect generator inter turn short circuit fault through this characteristic. We have conducted correlative experiment on dynamic analog experiment unit, and the coincidence conclusion with the theory analyses is obtained.
