Abstract
The development of a radar clutter model for coherent pulsed radar is presented. The clutter model is fairly general and is well-suited for the adaptive clutter suppression schemes using non-linear spectral estimation techniques. The evaluation of the clutter model by linear and nonlinear methods of spectral estimation is included. A comparison of the autocorrelation function of the generated model with that of the theoretical one shows the close approximation of the generated model the theoretical function. It is seen that for short data lengths (as encountered in radar), the nonlinear methods provide better resolution compared to linear methods.
