Abstract
In this era of technological revolution, automotive industry witnessed tremendous progress with the environment friendly Electric Vehicles (EVs). To account for the consumer cost, the electric vehicles should offer maximum mileage in one charge by monitoring and utilizing maximum energy from the battery pack without significantly affecting the battery life. A reliable monitoring system reduces user´s anticipation of the battery life when vehicle undergoes hard real time situation, ie., rapid acceleration and braking. In this paper, a novel method for monitoring rechargeable Li-ion batteries with wireless communication architecture is proposed which is a low cost, low power, highly reliable, redundant and scalable system. Experimental results show that this solution is practically applicable to EV platform.
