Abstract :
Although virtual reality technology has gained popularity and has many uses in research and entertainment applications, there has been little effort put into developing the technology for use in industry. This paper defines virtual reality and telepresence and reviews the components that comprise a virtual reality system. It uses this as the basis for discussing applications of virtual reality/telepresence in workstation redesign and training to increase productivity and aid in compliance to safety regulations
