  • Abstract
A system of the wire drawing with ultrasonic vibration was designed and built to investigate the feasibility that the ultrasonic wire drawing technology with ultrasonic vibration can be applied to practice process. The drawing experiments of brass wire were performed on a drawing machine. The drawing velocity was 133.13 mm/s. The experimental results demonstrate that the ultrasonic vibration obviously reduced the drawing force by approximately 29%, effectively prolonged the tension regulator cycle of the drawing machine and reduced the tensile force to make drawing process steady. The ultrasonic vibration reduced the uneven deformation of the wire and greatly improved the surface quality of the wire. The current work provides the powerful support for the practice application of the ultrasonic wire drawing technology.
