Abstract :
This paper presents a case study of a successful technology transfer project in the field of knowledge-based systems. The project concerns the development of a knowledge-based system application, called ASTRA, for state assessment, preventive diagnosis, and intervention planning of power transformers. Generalizing from this experience, a new approach, called the 9-ingredients approach, to KBS technology transfer is then defined, and a collection of general rules for its practical and successful implementation are provided. The 9-ingredients approach is claimed to guarantee effective project management and reasonable risk control
