Abstract :
In recent years, there has been a significant emphasis on developing control methodologies to handle network delays in networked control systems (NCS) using different approaches. Nevertheless, there are not many practical control methodologies to deal with data dropouts. In many applications the assumption of small dropout rates does not hold. In this paper, a new strategy is developed to deal with high dropout levels, based on a generalized predictive control (GPC) scheme by means of a queuing-selecting method and an estimator to compensate for information losses when data packets are missing. Also, an algorithm to reduce the traffic over the network is described. Simulation results on the control of a three-tank system are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the method.
