Abstract :
This paper presents the implementation of a Grid compatible heterodyne inverter which consists of five cells, its topology and control sequence. The proposed inverter utilizes an output filter inductor that has less than a fifth volume than comparable existing power inverters. The heterodyne inverter was simulated and achieved extremely low THD of 0.018% (first 50 harmonics). The size of the output LC filter is kept small (e.g. 500uH, 0.47uF for a 50 Hz 220 Vrms 240 W output). Furthermore, the AC output lacks a DC component which might drive inductive loads into saturation, and has no crossover distortion.
