  • Abstract
Peak-Inductor-Current (PIC) of Boost DC-DC converters in CCM and DCM is analyzed. It is pointed out that the maximum PIC of Boost converters in CCM is the maximal one in the total range of the load. If the maximum PIC is less than the minimum ignition current, the converter meets the requirement of intrinsic safety. A design method of inductance of Boost DC-DC converters is proposed according to the desired operating mode and the requirement of intrinsic safety. The simulation results are in positive to the analysis results showing the feasibility of the proposed methods.
