Abstract
A simple neural-based A/D converter employing only CMOS inverters is considered. Its structure based on a neural network with feed-forward and nonsymmetrical connections. A formal neuron model can easily be implemented by the use of CMOS inverters. Weights for synapses are given as fixed numerical values of channel conductances of pull-up PMOS and pull-down NMOS transistors of CMOS inverters. A 6-bit A/D converter is realized with 2 μm CMOS process employing MOSIS service, and measured for confirming a behavior of the proposed structure
