Abstract :
This paper has analyzed the reasons for unbalanced magnetic pull (UMP) in some types of high power-density PM synchronous motors by theoretical model. In the following research, it is shown that UMP has close relationship with arrangement of stator windings and harmonics in winding functions. In order to validate the theoretical results, some types of FEA models with similar slot/pole combination and dimension have built for comparison. Finally, the advices for PM synchronous motor design are provided.
