Abstract
With the explosive growth in internetworking, managing such an environment is more difficult than before. Traditional network management technology can suffer from the problems of poor scalability and single point of failure. In order to overcome these shortcomings, a multilayer architecture for network management with a unified management interface is promising. Moreover, the emerging mobile agent technology represents a promising approach to provide dynamic features of management functions. This paper presents a three-layer dynamic network management architecture with mobile agents. Based on the proposed architecture, system information and an agent-based monitoring application are reported
