Abstract :
We demonstrate a passively Q-switched ytterbium doped double-clad fiber laser with Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber. At a pump power of 9.8 W, 143 ns duration output pulses with 18.5 muJ energy are obtained at a repetition rate of 253 KHz.
