Abstract
The uncertainty of generation required to maintain system balancing has been growing significantly due to the penetration of renewable energy resources such as wind power and the impact of demand response. To deal with such uncertainty, RTO´s require more look-ahead and forecasting capabilities beyond real-time. In this paper a new dispatch system called Generation Control Application (GCA) is proposed to address the challenges posed by renewable energy integration. With dynamic and robust dispatch algorithm and flexible system configuration, the proposed system will provide adequate system ramping capability to cope with uncertain intermittent resources while maintaining system reliability in large grid operations.
