Abstract :
Numerical analysis performed on a vertical slope subjected to influence induced by fluctuation of water level show that both the rate and type of water level fluctuation are essential factors for slope stability. A conceptual framework illustrates the influence of the different model boundary conditions distribution to slope stability. Relationships between factor of safety (FOS) and boundary condition are obtained from this numerical model. Since the influence mechanism has been discovered in this paper, we can get insights into the development of slope stability which locates on typical place such as reservoir region. Based on some known knowledge and a minimum assumed factor of safety (FOS), controlled work can be applied to the rate of water level fluctuation for a real constructure.
