Abstract :
This paper presents an enhancement algorithm of the breast ultrasound image based on fuzzy logic. In order to fulfill the task of enhancement, we normalize the images and fuzzify the normalized images. Then we extract the edge and textural information in fuzzy domain and increase the contrast ratio measuring the degree of enhancement on the exchange of those ratios of the entire and partial information of image, and finally transform the enhanced ultrasound images back to the gray-scale domain using the defuzzification operation. Tested on a variety of ultrasound images, it is confirmed by the experimental results that the algorithm has better performance in enhancing images of the breast diseased parts.
