Abstract :
This paper describes the implementation of a service specific connection oriented protocol (SSCOP) for an B-ISDN signalling protocol. This implementation aims to provide a large multiplexed subscriber system. To handle the many multiplexed signalling links, this paper proposes a buffer management mechanism, a performance protection mechanism, and a redundancy mechanism. We implemented SSCOP and these mechanisms on an LSI and measured the performance. The throughput is 16 Mbps. When the LSI handles 384 signalling links, the data frame processing throughput is 5000 PDU/s. Performance measurement also shows that the polling mechanism of SSCOP for acknowledgement reduces the throughput of large multiplexed signalling systems
