Abstract :
This paper discusses the design of a localised environment monitoring system. The system consists of a temperature sensor, a humidity sensor, a global positioning system (GPS), a microcontroller and an LCD display. The temperature and humidity sensors measure the surrounding environment, while the GPS collects the current longitude, latitude and altitude position of the system. This paper highlights the verification method to ensure the accuracy of the system when performing the sensing operations. Each sensor is compared against the existing commercial device under various environmental conditions. The results show that the system can measure the temperature, humidity and location information, within an accuracy range of 96% to 99%, when it is benchmarked against the commercial devices.
