Abstract
In the field of internal combustion engine research, the measurement of piston temperature in a running engine has always been a difficult and costly procedure. This paper discusses the development of a remotely powered system to take continuous temperature measurements at several points on a piston and transmit them, via a wireless communication link, to external signal conditioning and processing equipment. A key component of the system is a piston-mounted signal-processing ASIC from the Micro Circuit Engineering MT81000 mixed-signal array series. Details of the design and simulation of this circuit are presented, with some information on the necessary external circuitry
