Abstract
Interlayer hetero-association in neural associative memories can be improved via multivalued information representation. A complex-valued neural network is employed to process the Fourier feedback between layers. Shift-invariant image recognition is achieved as a result of this interlayer interaction. The use of complex-valued neurons enables a straightforward method of multivalued information coding
