Abstract :
Model reduction methods for two-dimensional (2-D) discrete systems are reviewed. Specifically, the methods of pseudo-balanced, quasi-balanced, structurally balanced, weighted quasi-balanced, and weighted structurally balanced model reduction for 2-D systems with input and output weights are discussed. Particular attention is given to the issues of approximation accuracy and error bounds, computational complexity of the methods, and the stability of the reduced-order systems
