Abstract :
A new design method for allpass bilinear digital ladder filters is presented. The method can be used for design of lattice filters; odd order lowpass filters as well as filters that can be obtained from these by frequency transformations. The resulting structure has a canonical number of multipliers and delays. The filter coefficients are obtained from the coefficients of the desired pole polynomial using simple recursion formulas. A design example for a fifth order elliptic lowpass filter is given, and the filter is analyzed and compared to a lattice wave digital realization
