Abstract :
Inter-domain multi-path routing provides many benefits for multimedia transmission, such as higher network capacity, faster network failure recovery, more secure data transmission, and improved market competition. However, the multi-path routing usually results in more message overhead, computing overhead and storage overhead, which make the inter-domain multi-path routing protocols exhibit poor scalability. This paper proposes a scalable inter-domain multi-path routing framework called iRoute to solve the scalability issue in inter-domain multi-path routing. After discussing several applications of iRoute, the prototype is implemented and some experiments are conducted. Results show that iRoute generates less message overhead in face of link failures compared to BGP.
