Abstract :
Slow motion playback functionality in video streaming is presented. System architecture featured with slowed-down network traffic and adaptive client-driven serving of streaming media contents over network is proposed. An even-spaced frame interpolation based on bi-directional prediction with motion compensation algorithm is proposed to generate a sequence for displaying. Experiments of slow playback showed speed factors ranging from 0.923 to 0.5 being preferable from slow motion visual effects perspective.
