Abstract
It is a well known fact that structural non-homogeneities radiate acoustic energy in a very efficient manner. In this paper, the acoustic field radiated by a nonhomogeneous fluid loaded plate is presented. The non-homogeneity is caused by a variation in the plate thickness. The thickness is assumed to be constant and equal to h1 for x < 0, and is also constant but equal to h2 for x > 0. Continuity of plate displacement and bending moment is required and maintained at the plate junction location x = 0. Radiated frequency spectrum as a function of angular position and h2 /h1 are given.
