  • Abstract
We present an interactive approach to deriving linguistic summaries of sets of data (databases). We employ R.R. Yager´s (1982; 1991) idea, based on a calculus of linguistically quantified statements, as a point of departure. Since a fully automatic derivation of linguistic summaries is unrealistic for now, we follow J. Kacprzyk and S. Zadrozny´s (1998) general approach advocating the use of a fuzzy querying interface for defining classes of summaries of interest. We show some results of linguistic summaries derived using the implemented system for sales data at a computer retailer
