Abstract :
A three chip direct-conversion transceiver designed for use in the 900 MHz Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) band is presented. The first chip provides the receive functions, the second the transmit functions and the third the synthesized local oscillator functions. The receiver has a maximum gain of 105 dB with greater than 80 dB of gain control range. The transmit chip includes a modulator and has selectable 0 dBm, +10 dBm and +20 dBm output power levels. The synthesizer has 41 programmable channels and includes a fully integrated VCO. The chip set is designed to operate over a 2.7 V to 5.0 V supply voltage range
