Abstract :
Variable knot spline analysis in two dimensions borders on two dimensional approximation theory. The authors have attempted to use the former as an aid in reducing the degrees of freedom in high resolution image sensors by varying the knot placement in two dimensions of various order spline function approximates. Examples using two dimensional fourth derivative knot placement will be described.
