Abstract :
This paper presents four different design techniques whereby a given n-dimensional, discrete, and finite space impulse response is approximated by the impulse response of a recursive digital filter; this is carried out by extending the works of Kalman [3], Steiglitz and McBride[6], Shanks[5], Bertran[1], and Bordner[2]. The properties of each design procedure are discussed and some comparisons are made to enable the filter designer to choose the optimum filter that covers his requirements.
