Abstract :
This paper presents a general approach to the numerical design of the optical network passive components based on the cylindrical dielectric resonators (DR´s). This approach is based on the formulation of a scattering problem in terms of the boundary integral equations; the latter are finally reduced to a Fredholm second kind matrix equation by using the procedure of analytical regularization. As examples of DR-based passive components, bandstop filter and directional beam coupler are investigated. Our accurate numerical analysis of dielectric filters and couplers takes into account two loss mechanisms, namely, the radiation into upper halfspace and absorption in the DR material
